FAQs

  • Yes, there are lots of beginner oriented lessons on Youtube to get you started. But there are some important advantages to having a teacher. You get precise feedback on your playing which prevents bad technique habits before they arise, and most importantly, you have someone who can identify what you should learn next. Everyone is different, and it can be hard to know exactly what to learn.

  • If you can’t make it to a lesson, we can organise a catch up lesson during the first week of school holidays as long as I have 24 hours notice about the cancellation.

  • Just your guitar and note book. I have spare acoustics, electrics and basses which you can use if it’s more convenient, but I encourage students to bring their own.

  • The first free trial lesson is half an hour, but can be extended to an hour if you’d like to jump straight into full hour lessons- in these cases I charge just $30 to make up the hour.

  • Learning acoustic is good for beginners because they can learn to strum simple songs without worrying about string noise as much. Acoustic guitars can be cheaper too if budget is an issue. That being said, I have taught lots of students who quickly switch to electric guitar and progress quickly. If the idea of playing electric is more exciting to you then I’d highly recommend starting on it.
